--FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 1, 2007 New Scrapbooking Tool Joins Breast Cancer Fight Arccivo Launches “Design.SAVE.Go.” Campaign in Support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month Charlotte, N.C. – Arccivo, the new scrapbooking tool featured on the locally produced PBS television show, Everyday Edisons, is teaming up with the American Breast Cancer Foundation in the fight against breast cancer this month with its “Design.SAVE.Go.” campaign. For every Arccivo magnetic portfolio purchased from the website during the month of October, $1 will be donated to the American Breast Cancer Foundation. Arccivo will make a minimum donation of $1,000 by the campaign’s conclusion. Why Breast Cancer Awareness? Deborah is one of three women from Huntersville, N.C. who invented the Arccivo. Mance’s grandmother lost a gruesome battle with the disease, and has a sister currently fighting breast cancer with chemotherapy. Ironically, her mother-in-law also overcame a bout with the disease and has been in remission for 20 years. “Since breast cancer has become such a common thread in my family, I have made it my personal mission to raise awareness and support to fight this terrible disease,” said Mance. “I’m very proud to be able to say that the Arccivo, the product Pam, Mary and I have worked so hard to develop, is supporting the same fight.” Mance’s grandmother, a proud and endearing woman, refused to tell anyone she was sick until it was too late. When she eventually confided in her family and sought medical attention, she had an open wound on her breast – the cancer had literally eaten away at her skin. “We wanted to find a philanthropy that hit close to home with Arccivo as a company. Breast cancer is a very important issue for one of Arccivo’s inventors, Deborah Mance, supporting the American Breast Cancer Foundation seemed to be the perfect fit,” said Kalpana Patel, project manager for Arccivo. The American Breast Cancer Foundation (www.abcf.org) provides support for the uninsured and underserved women and men. ABCF offers early detection education, screening services and assistance to breast cancer patients and their families, no matter their age, sex, race or the financial challenges they face. An all-in-one layout work surface, the Arccivo magnetic portfolio allows users to save and protect unfinished designs, and walk away without worrying they’ll be lost. Simply unzip the Arccivo, remove the two protective felt sheets and start your layout on the Arccivo’s built-in work surface. Place the protective sheets over the layout, zip it up, and walk away. Woven metal fibers in the protective sheets are attracted to the magnets in the Arccivo’s base. Through the Arccivo’s portable design and innovative technology, crafters everywhere now have the ability to save and work on incomplete designs whenever – and wherever – they please. The Arccivo was produced in conjunction with a new Public Broadcasting System reality show, Everyday Edisons®, featuring inventors and the product development process. The three women presented their scrapbooking invention at an Everyday Edisons casting call and were selected as one of the 14 Season 1 finalists.
